What’s An Escape Room?

Escape rooms are immersive experiences where you and a group of friends have to work together to gather clues and solve a mystery before time runs out. You will be locked in the room until time runs out. You won’t be forced to remain within the room but if you decide to exit, you won’t be able to reenter.

Operation Outbreak currently has two escape rooms: Baker Street Mystery and Escape the Undead. If you’ve ever watched an adaptation of Sherlock Holmes and you’d like to put your deduction skills to the test, then Baker Street Mystery is perfect for you. If you’re a fan of sci-fi or zombie films, then Escape the Undead will perfectly suit your needs. Each room has specific clues hidden throughout. It is your group’s goal to work together in order to uncover the mysteries of the room. This is as immersive as it gets!

Are They Just Glorified Haunted Houses?

Unlike haunted houses, where patrons simply walk through and get spooked by people in masks, escape room games put you in the middle of the action. Although there is a sense of suspense, escape rooms are more about achieving a common goal and less about getting frightened. Have you ever watched an action movie in which the main character has to unlock a safe before the bad guys walk in or before time runs out? Escape rooms basically replicate the emotion one might feel while in these kinds of scenarios. As the time ticks down from 60 minutes to zero, your group will be in the middle of the action.

What If I Have Anxiety or Claustrophobia?

Escape rooms are meant to be as immersive as possible. Although this yields a more complete experience, it may be too much for individuals with anxiety or claustrophobia. If you begin to feel uncomfortable, you can leave the room on your own volition. You’re not forcefully locked in there for 60 minutes but it’s necessary for participants to be as involved in the escape game as possible.
